New signing Dani Alves is said to be acting as mediator between Frenchman Ousmane Dembele and Barcelona in the quest for the latter to stay at the Nou Camp beyond his current deal which runs out at the end of this season. Brazilian international Dani Alves is back at Barcelona after the Spanish club confirmed his return to the La Liga club last month.
Dani Alves has signed an 18-month deal with the Catalan giants and reports claimed that the Brazilian is earning the least possible amount permitted for La Liga players in his little way of helping Barcelona amidst their financial crisis. He’s the latest player who has tried to convince Dembele that his long-term future lies at the Nou Camp. As quoted by Barca Blaugranes, Alves said that Dembele is an outstanding player and that the French winger needs to understand that he’s playing for Barcelona which means that he’s good. The Brazilian went on to say that his mission is to remind the player that he’s phenomenal and he could do a lot of good things at the Nou Camp.
Barcelona signed Dembele from Borussia Dortmund in the German Bundesliga as the direct replacement for Neymar who had left the club for French team Paris Saint Germain (PSG) in the summer of 2017. Dembele put pen to paper on a five-year deal when he left Dortmund to sign for the Catalans as the replacement for Brazilian superstar Neymar. His contract will expire next summer and he has been linked with a lot of clubs outside Spain.
Dembele, 24, is said to be a lot of scouting and transfer attention from clubs such as Manchester United, Liverpool and Juventus. Premier League moneybags Newcastle United are also keen on snapping him up on a free transfer, but that could depend on them staying in the Premier League.
